Spring Term 2009 - Requests for workshops and projects.

If your anything like me you probably don't come up with every one of your ideas on the spare of the moment. So, I thought we could start the ideas flowing early. Please post them here.
So far we have the rescheduled Resume/Interviews talk.
My ideas are:
Certifications - Maybe CompTIA, Microsoft, Sun, CIW, Cisco. Either someone from one of these organisations or someone with knowledge.
CISCO - the importance of network routing. Perhaps a Cisco person.
I would also like to consider recording these talks and placing them on the new college site.

The city of Jacksonville IT department has a GIS (Graphical information System) that is avalibale to anyone whith internet access. We can have someone come in maybe the database Administrator(s) and demonstrate or give us some useful information regarding what all goes on in that database. Not only that, but we can also establish a relationship with the City ITD and one day take a tour and see what all goes on from day to day. IF we cannot do this directly, maybe through the FCCJ IT department we can get in. I think this would be really helpful and even practical. GIS is soemthing we all depened on, whether its just getting directions online or whether we can to find nearest restaurant on GPS system etc. I am sure we can establish a relationship with this department.
